Knowledge Products for Sustainable Urban Development for Smart Cities II
Madhya Pradesh, India
About the Project
The Sustainable Urban Development – Smart Cities II (SUDSC II) project, implemented by
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal
Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), supports the Ministry of Housing and
Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and selected state governments in advancing resilient, inclusive, and
sustainable urban development across India.
Operating at national, state, and city levels, the project focuses on strengthening regulatory
frameworks, institutional capacities, data-driven decision-making, and knowledge exchange
mechanisms. Since 2022, SUDSC II has generated extensive policy inputs, technical documents,
and on-ground interventions across multiple partner states and cities.
To consolidate and effectively communicate these achievements, GIZ commissioned the
development of a suite of high-quality communication products. The objective was to translate
complex themes such as climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, gender-responsive planning,
and inclusive infrastructure into visually engaging, print-ready formats accessible to both technical
and non-technical audiences. The communication suite included an interactive brochure, a
comprehensive coffee table book, six state-level booklets, and a visual narrative foldout poster.
